How do I know if I’m eligible to take part in a market research study?
INTELLIGENT iNSiGHTS is always on the lookout for various types of participants and panel members. We recruit and interview executives, professionals, consumers, patients and carers/caregivers for a variety of studies in the Healthcare (human and animal), Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, Technology, Communication, Hospitality, Leisure, Retail, and Consumer sectors.
Each market research study requires specific participants, and participation eligibility is subject to various factors, including your profile, the subject being researched, what the study is designed to achieve, and the study type. For example, a study may require female participants living with a certain health condition in the 45+ age group and belonging to a certain ethnic background or race.
INTELLIGENT iNSiGHTS almost always uses a selection questionnaire called a “screener” to determine whether your profile is a good match for a particular study. If we find that it is, then you are considered eligible to take part in the study and can expect to be formally invited by email to do so.
What kind of studies do you do?
The studies are all different, but they can involve a telephone interview, a face-to-face interview, a group discussion (focus group), an online survey, a diary of your experience, an audio and/or video recording, or a combination of methods.
Where and how will I do the study?
You can either do the study on your own or with a professional market researcher (called an interviewer or moderator) at a time that suits you. The study can be conducted face to face, over the phone, or online.
How long will a study last?
The length of a study can vary from only a few minutes to an hour or several hours over the course of a week or two. The most common study length is 20 to 60 minutes.
What do I have to do during the market research study?
What you have to do will vary depending on the objective and methodology of the study. You may be asked to answer questions in person, over the phone, online or in recordings. You may be invited to complete an audio, video or online diary, or submit photos or documents. You may be asked to complete the study on your own or interact with a group of other participants to do so.
As a participant you will be paid for your time and for your opinions. But a lot of our respondents find taking part in market research very rewarding, not just because of the incentive but also because they get to be among the first to discover new products and services.
As a market research participant, you get to influence and shape the marketing or commercial direction that clients will take and also how they will eventually communicate with you or an organisation through advertising and other methods.
But most of all, market research is about making the most of the opportunity to share your opinion and experience freely and bravely because, in market research, there are no right or wrong answers!
It depends on the length and type of the study (panel or ad hoc), but you can expect to be paid the following:
- between £0.50 and £100 if you take part as a consumer, a patient or a carer/caregiver,
- between £20 and £250 if you take part as a professional or an expert.
Note: You won’t always be paid in cash for your time and participation, and instead may be entered in a prize draw.
Generally, you will be paid within 2 to 6 weeks of taking part.
An email address is all we need to make a bank transfer to you via Wise. If you prefer (or if a bank transfer isn’t possible or if you haven’t provided your bank details to Wise in time), you will be compensated with a voucher (e.g., Amazon, Argos, etc.). We will never ask you for your bank details or any other sensitive details in order to process your payment.
How can I take part in your market research?
If you would like to be considered for one of our market research studies, you need to be clear about whether you want to participate as a consumer, patient, carer/caregiver, or a professional or expert.
Then, you can sign up within minutes to apply to enrol
in one of our panels. You can otherwise visit us on Facebook,
Twitter
or Instagram
for information about studies for which we are currently recruiting participants.
How do I know my personal data is safe with you?
INTELLIGENT iNSiGHTS adheres to the Code of Conduct of the UK’s Market Research Society (MRS) as well as the legal framework of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We have also applied for the MRS’ global Fair Data accreditation,
which is granted by the Fair Data Accreditation Board to only those organisations that handle personal data in a fair manner.
‘Fair Data is a recognisable mark that enables consumers to make educated choices about their personal data. When you interact with a Fair Data organisation, you have confidence that your information is safe.’—The Market Research Society
I completed the screener, but why haven’t I heard back from you yet?
Although we take steps to ensure that we invite each successfully screened person to take part in an INTELLIGENT iNSiGHTS market research study, we cannot guarantee that this will always be the case.
If you’ve successfully cleared the screener, we will typically get back to you within 3 working days.
But what if you don’t hear back from us even after 7 days?
Then, it is very likely that the study requires fewer participants than earlier thought, or stricter parameters have been put in place regarding participant eligibility.
If so, we will be more than happy to confirm that this is in fact the case.
The good news?
Over the course of a year, it is possible to be invited to participate in more than one study!
